Imam Ali (AS) said:
“O God, I seek refuge in You from having an outwardly good appearance in the eyes of people while my inner self, which I conceal, is corrupt. And from acting hypocritically in deeds of which You are more aware than anyone. And from presenting myself as virtuous to people while carrying evil deeds before You, seeking closeness to Your servants but distance from Your pleasure.”
